In nearly 40 years we have travelled and stayed at over 100 Apartments/Hotels/B&Bs spanning 23 countries. It is in this context, that we would say that our experience at Little Robin Gate has been the best, and David (and Pumpkin) provided the perfect holiday base to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary. The property was immaculate, from the beautifully kept gardens to our spotless room (Spa Room). David provided a warm welcome on arrival with Pumpkin the dog and was highly attentive at all times to ensure our stay was comfortable and pleasurable. The room was well equipped with tea/coffee maker, complimentary biscuits (topped up every day), hair dryer etc. The spa room with a large spa bath was wonderfully relaxing at the end of the long day exploring Bournemouth and beyond. David has set a high bar for all B&Bs and we wish him and Pumpkin continued success!

A beautiful room with more amenities than I knew I needed. Really clean, lovely and warm, very comfortable bed, quiet neighbourhood a 10 minute walk from Bournemouth town centre, plenty of parking on the driveway and to top it all off, a very attentive host.

A immaculately run B&B by David, a friendly and very helpful host. The accommodation is well located in a quiet residential area, 10 minutes walk from the train station and with a bus nearby to get to the city center and the seaside. Spacious and comfortable room with bathroom equipped with a jacuzzi for 2. Tourist documentation available, which is very appreciable. The breakfast is self service with a lot of choices. In short you can go with your eyes closed.

Trip number 3, as usual it goes way too fast. And as always I had such a good time there I forgot to take photos, so this will unfortunately be a pictureless review.

Little Robin Gate is hands down the best place you can stay there is, the only downside is you can't take it with you on holidays in other areas around the country!

I look forward to starting with David and Pumpkin every time I'm in Bournemouth, and now go at least every other year, I can't believe they're not sick of seeing me yet 😂.

The house is absolutely amazing, large front and back gardens surrounded by trees provide lovely views for both rooms and every room is just massive!

I took my mum for her birthday this year, and David and Pumpkin made sure the special day started really nicely. Balloons, cake and Prosecco were all waiting ready in the morning for her when she woke up. A really nice touch!

The rooms are well stocked with everything you need and really comfortable, you always feel right at home. The room I stay in has the best jacuzzi bath for those cold nights, or romantic evenings 😉. Or if that isn't your thing, a large rainfall head shower that is ready to use and get to the perfect temperature.

If added to your booking breakfast is perfect, there is so much choice. I am gluten and lactose intolerant, and still have just as much choice as everyone else. Pumpkin is on hand every morning taking her head of food services job very seriously. After she's eaten her breakfast she is always there to make sure you're eating, and is ready to hoover up any mess at a moments notice to keep the room tidy whilst you eat!

David and Pumpkin know the area very well, and not only provide a well stocked folder of pretty much everything in Bournemouth, but also in the surrounding areas too. Even before my trip they sent a long list of ideas so help me make my own itinerary.

I could literally go on for hours writing about how good the place is, there's probably loads I've missed. So if you've got this far into the review, why haven't you booked already 🤔, go find the rest out for yourself. Get booking now! You won't regret it.

We have just returned after a stay in this property. All I can say is WOW! 

It has everything you need. If you forget any toiletries the owner David has supplied a box in the bathroom with an assortment in. He even supplies eye masks and ear plugs. 

We stayed in the Spa room the bed was comfortable with extra blankets if needed and black out blinds. The TV showed Amazon prime and netflix. The bathroom is big with a massive jacuzzi bath. 

The whole property is spotless. I defy anyone to find any dust, dirt or limescale ! It is also a beautifully decorated house. 

The selection on offer for breakfast was plentiful with about 6 different cereals to chose from as well as pastries, fruit, 2 different breads to toast and even 4 different jams ! David messaged me before we checked in to ask what type of milk we drunk. 

His attention to detail is amazing. Pumpkin is very sweet and likes to be fussed over. If we decide to stay in Bournemouth again we will definitely stay here again. We walked into Bournemouth in under 10 minutes and went on some lovely walks.

Most amazing travel accommodation in have stayed so far!!! Very spacious. Got everything. Amazing bubble bath. Everything clean and tidy. The host David and pumpkin are very friendly. 10 marks not enough - can give an 11 if possible.

Parking on the premises was very helpful. Drinks in the room were nice each evening and morning. The use of the kitchen to be able to store our items in the fridge helped. Was able to use the microwave or oven if needed.

Everything! David is a wonderful host who has created a small hotel with a lot of heart and expertiality, where you also like to spend several weeks. It was clean and tidy, just like in the photos, the kitchen was a dream, perfect for cooking Pumpkin is a lovely dog who was very happy to take a snack (after prior arrangement with David) and always made for a good mood. Smaller arrangements for breakfast (David always provided options for bread, cereal and juice), room cleaning, etc. ran smoothly and quickly. The wifi was stable and there was Amazon Prime for each room. The Location in the residential area was very quiet and served my relaxation. I would definitely come back again and again!

Great place, super clean and very well run. Very dog friendly and Bella & Harper loved it there - and great to have a large fenced in gravel garden for them to roam in. Host was very friendly and shared good local knowledge with us. Location 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 nice and quiet and only a short stroll from the beach. Great healthy(ish) breakfast too.

We had a wonderful dog-friendly stay at Little Robin Gate. It's in a quiet area while being close to the shops and the beach. David and Pumpkin provided a very welcoming, calm and relaxing environment for us and our little puppy. The room and ensuite were spacious and clean and the jacuzzi bath was such a treat! The room was lovely and clean. The owner David was very welcoming along with Pumpkin. There were products in the room in case we had forgotten anything and no judgement when our dog arrived filthy having rolled in something unpleasant. David provided us with some puppy shampoo and towels and still gave him a very warm welcome. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends with dogs.

Great hosts in Pumpkin and David. Super comfy room with plenty of nice touches. And the lovely spa bath after getting caught out in a downpour just perfect... Thanks again for all your thoughtfulness David. The only downside was we only stayed two nights.

Little Robin Gate is a beautiful and eclectic property. It's a renovated 1930s house that the owner, David, lovingly restored. I had everything I needed for my stay and then some. The gardens and the exterior are peaceful and stately. The interior is immaculate and very comfortable. Additionally, there are bits of whimsy scattered throughout. There wasn't anything I disliked. David and Pumpkin, the cute co-owner, bent over backwards for me.

Great Location if using public transport as allowed me to visit areas all across dorset as only 10 min walk to main bus and train station and 5 mins to local bus stop.

David and Pumpkin gave us a lovely, warm welcome. Our ensuite room was great, good size, comfortable bed, plenty of storage. We opted for the breakfast and didn't disappoint, plenty to choose from for all tastes and requirements. The accommodation was very clean and tidy. Only a 20-minute walk into town, so there was no need to drive, and with the free parking was a bonus.

The room benefits from 2 full sized wardrobes so it does appeal to those guests staying for a few days. We stayed four nights in this beautiful place. Great Location even without a car as it is close to the centre of Bournemouth, in a nice residential area. Clean and quiet room. Everything you need is available. Very nice and helpful owner.

David and Pumpkin were superb hosts, very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was second to none, meticulously clean and is a stunning property that provides everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. Spotless quite great host Dave and pumpkin made us feel right at home it was lovely and quite easy to get to town walking and bus and train 10 mins away will definitely come back. Had full use of kitchen and a shelf in the fridge to put stuff It was that nice I cannot say there was anything wrong with the property at all it was all good!!

Faultless. Little Pumpkin and David made us so welcome, and went above and beyond to give advice on local transport services and restaurants. Our rooms were well appointed and spacious, the beds were very comfortable, and everything was spotlessly clean. It was clear that the fixtures and fittings were of good quality, and the rooms were quiet and peaceful. Both my friend and I enjoyed a blissful sleep. The continental breakfast was plentiful and set us up for the day.

As another guest said you get so much more than just a room for the money. Pumpkin as Head of Snooze does like to ensure guests get a good nights sleep otherwise it can really ruin a stay otherwise. Many of our returning guests come back to us as they have experienced how noisy other hotels are right in the centre/by the beach. Always welcome back D&P

What a wonderful place to stay! David and Princess Pumpkin were amazing hosts and made us feel at home. The accommodation is beautiful and spotlessly clean. ‘Fantastic guest house – has everything you could possibly need, including an adorable little dog called Pumpkin’. Little Robin Gate is so much nicer than staying at a hotel, with lots of extra special touches like complimentary biscuits, fruit and chocolate, ample stocks of tea and coffee, not to mention all forms of toiletries that you may require in the bathroom. Can’t thank you enough for the wonderful stay. Nothing is too much trouble for David, just let him know what you need and he will be there to help. It was a pleasure to stay here, the house and grounds are beautiful and in close proximity to the train station, town centre and Bournemouth Pier. An amazing place to stay, thank you David and Pumpkin for the wonderful hospitality.

Tips for other travellers

Short walk to the train station with a 10 minute train ride to Poole in one direction or Christchurch in the other direction. Both provide nice days out once you have been sightseeing in Bournemouth.

Amazing host start to finish, along with a lovely property. And if that’s not enough, Pumpkin is the icing on the cake! The best host we’ve ever had. Everything you want when being a guest, David was friendly and helpful from the start. Before we even turned up he recommended restaurants and the best way into town via a scenic route. The room was also amazing, lovely, large, soft mattress, comfy pillows and lovely Location 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 for the property. Only downside was we were only there for the one night, could have happily spent a week there. Having said that, we’ll definitely be coming back.

Little Robin Gate is a wonderful place that is tucked away on a quiet street not far from the town centre. The gardens are beautiful and immaculately kept. The house is delightful, David and Pumpkin are great hosts. Pumpkin is friendly and adorable, greeting us with a wagging tail and appreciative of a strike. David is a polite and friendly host. Our room was very clean and there were many extra touches such as tea/coffee/fruit/ snacks aswell as toiletries in the bathroom. Also iron and iron boarding and a hairdryer. The house is well situated near the bus and train station and it's in walking distance to the city center and Uni. The rooms are very nicely kept, lots of space and the rooms have a pretty view out into the garden. I am Coeliac and I was able to eat gluten free, the owner knows what that meant. No contamination! The B&B is not just a normal B&B, David, the owner, has put his heart and soul into it. Thank you for our lovely stay. And Pumpkin, you are a star.

Great for couples We loved our stay, the rooms were spotlessly clean, and lots of extras just in case you forgot something. David was an excellent host, (as was Pumpkin), and his attention to detail was superb. We enjoyed continental breakfast in the morning which was excellent value with lots to chose from, and excellent quality too. It was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle, but within a short walking distance to the beach. Would highly recommend.

We (me and my daughteer and granddaughter) have just spent 4 nights at Little Robin Gate.Everything was excellent - from the outside lighting to the quiet bedrooms with lovely bedwear. David was extremely helpful in every way. My daughter is celiac and required a gluten free breakfast which was excellent. - David even baked us a delicious GF banana bread for breakfast. The atmosphere is very friendly - we felt like family. I thoroughly recommend a stay in this lovely house which lies just a few minutes from a bus stop so no problem if, like us, you don't travel to Bournemouth by car. Needless to say, Pumpkin is extremely well behaved (and well groomed) and most definitely does not disturb the guest in any way, Many thanks for a very pleasant stay. Diana Srub

We had a fantastic stay at Little Robin Gate. By bus you can be on the beach in 10 minutes. The Facilities 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 were exceptional! It was like “home from home”. . Every room was beautifully decorated to a very high standard, and fresh and clean. David and Pumpkin gave us a warm welcome and took great care of us and gave us lots of info about places of interest.

We had a lovely stay here for a weekend break. David was very welcoming and the comms beforehand were great, explaining arrival procedure. The room was spotless with a lovely window view surrounded by greenery. The newly installed Spa Bath was a welcome treat after a long day out. We chose this accommodation also because it is dog friendly. Our dog also received a warm welcome.The rear enclosed garden was great for quick breaks for the dog. The continental self service breakfast was ideal as it allowed us to eat when we wanted at our pace. A sausage was even provided for our dog. All in all, a great host, lovely Location 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 and we will visit again. Highly recommended.

Well, what an amazing find! I honestly cannot express how welcoming and attentive the hosts David & Pumpkin were to my friend and I. Pumpkin even made me vegan cookies and rye bread! Just so thoughtful… nothing was too much trouble. The house itself is so spotlessly clean and David has thought of everything for you to have the best stay in his beautiful home. Anyone staying here will have the best hosts in Bournemouth. Looking forward to our return.

Absolutely fabulous place! Situated in a leafy street with pretty gardens yet only a short walk into central Bournemouth. Charming hosts who couldn’t do enough for you! Welcome Basket, use of kitchen and Facilities 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡. Helpful advice provided. Everything in well-stocked room to a very high standard eg soft sheets, toiletries, drinks and snacks. Very warm welcome by the host David and the little four-legged friend Pumpkin. The Location was wonderfully quiet in a green environment. Perfect for a good night's sleep after traveling many miles. There were all kinds of snacks in the room, because the host understands that you can use a snack after a long drive. The beautiful house is very clean and tidy and equipped with all comforts and many extras. The breakfast really lacked nothing. The host David was informed in advance about any breakfast wishes and diet and / or allergies. Free parking in front of the beautiful house with lovely garden. Fantastically decorated with an eye for detail. In short, a unique Location. There are three rooms available for bed and breakfast guests with sufficient privacy and bath and/or shower Facilities in the room. If you want to have a drink outside in the garden, there is a nice seating area in the perfectly maintained garden. The Location is a fifteen minute walk from the boulevard and the beach with all kinds of dining options. You pass a park with cute wild squirrels and a great parrot cage with all kinds of parrots, lovebirds, pigeons, canaries and more.

David and Pumpkin were so welcoming. Every need was seen to. The room was very comfortable. Our dogs were made very welcome with Pumpkin happy to share her garden with them and treats provided for our dogs. We would certainly stay here again if in the area.

wonderful place to stay; very comfortable rooms and my dog Poppy was given a sausage for breakfast, could not have asked for more. A lovely back garden fully dog proof - something of great consideration with my dog who tests all fencing for vulnerabilities. We were made very welcome and the house is truly lovely.

I loved everything about Little Robin Gate. Our host David was wonderful. He made our stay so comfortable that we didn't miss staying in a hotel. Everywhere from the main entrance to our bedroom was emmaculately clean and fresh. He provided us with different varieties of teas 🍵 since we are tea lovers. He gave a tour of his beautiful home and told us the history behind it. He gave us directions to the bus and train and also to different places that we could visit, while in Bournemouth. I will definitely be staying there again on my next visit to London..Thanks a million David and Pumpkin for making our stay beautiful. We will see you soon. My husband and I loved everything ❤️ about Little Robin Gate. No complaints 👌

My wife and I visited Little Robin Gate to celebrate our 1st Wedding anniversary. As soon as we arrived, David made us feel welcome, there's a lot of care put into everything. David had a lot of extras in the bathroom for guests in case you forgot anything, which I had. He had lots of useful leaflets in the room of places to see and do and a map of the surrounding area. Parking is nice and secure, which gives peace of mind. We stayed in the spa room with the jacuzzi and it was very relaxing we used it the next morning again before checking out. It exceeded my expectations and the added bonus of a polite and charming host made us feel very relaxed. We hope to come again in the future!

A lovely warm welcome from both David and Pumpkin. Easy to park car. The Guest room is extremely well furnished and spotlessly clean. A big range of teas and coffees along with some small snacks. The Location is set within a beautiful part of Bournemouth. It is very quiet and peaceful but only a short walk through a lovely neighbourhood and park to the town and beach.

We had a great stay. Lovely and quiet. Not far from the busy town. All the little things have been thought about.. shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom encase you forget them, towels provided, tea and coffee in the room, sleep masks and ear plugs, Netflix and prime on the TV. David was very friendly and accommodating. Pumpkin was very cute 😍

The whole experience was top class, starting with the warm welcome from the host who was friendly, informative and offered beautiful, immaculate accommodation. The room had everything I needed, it was spotless, quiet all night and in a superb Location 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 for my needs (i.e. train station access) Considering every possible measure there is not a single thing that I could be negative about.

Lovely room set in a beautiful house. Very comfortable. Pumpkin is a superb host and her staff member David also very accommodating. I was unfortunately taken ill during my stay and was offered a choice of complimentary soup and bread or breakfast, with lovely fresh orange juice along with the company of Pumpkin to make sure I was OK.

David & Pumpkin were amazing hosts. Had a lovely 2 day break away. Quiet house and perfect Location for a short walk into Bournemouth and to the beach. Great off road parking which was a must for me. The house is beautiful and the room was large, modern, warm and comfy. David and Pumpkin made you feel like old friends and were very helpful. Thank you for letting me use your kitchen. Generally felt like home. Perfect to unwind and relax. Thank you!! :)

Unlike most Bournemouth Hotels there is no charge for parking with us which does save a lot of money for our guests. Warm Regards D&P

I liked that parking is free (loads of hotels in Bournemouth charge up to £30 p/n for parking!). The property is stunning as the owner has spent 10 years renovating the property himself. He really puts a lot of effort into making guests stay a great one. It is immaculate and spotless which is a great comfort. Wifi is superfast. Great Location and close to town centre and beach but still in a nice tranquil area (I have found many B'mouth Hotels to be very noisy from night time rowdiness)!.

Everything is perfect! David is a wonderful host and Pumpkin is just absolutely adorable! Everything is very fresh and clean. Definitely will stay again. Location is also great, just 10 minutes to the station and 10 minutes to the town centre through a beautiful park.

Such a lovely spacious room and gorgeous bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. Very clean with plenty of storage space. Tea, coffee and biscuits in the room which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was delicious (and so much of it!). David, the owner was very friendly and helpful and we loved Princess Pumpkin!

Fabulous house that is only a 10 minute walk from the sea front. David has spent the last 10 years renovating his property, and it really shows in the quality of the fixtures and fittings. It was a real treat for us, and David and Pumpkin were great hosts. The room was airy and spacious, and the ensuite shower and spa bath add a real touch of luxury. We hope to return this year!

Felt very at home and welcome with our two dogs. Such a comfortable bed and lovely house. Perfect large enclosed garden for the dogs too and lovely to be able to access breakfast and the kitchen at our leisure. The spa was obviously an added bonus too and ample parking on the drive be too. Highly recommend for a quiet break ideally located in a nice area but still within walking distance to the town and beach. Definitely will be rebooking.

Thank you for such a lovely review. So many guests find bed super comfy as we have a very nice (and expensive!) new Eve hybrid mattress that is a Which Best Buy. Being a Dog owner (and with Pumpkin's supervision of course) I think its really well set up for 4 legged guests who always have a pawstatic time. Warm Regards D&P

Much nicer than other town centre properties which are very noisy as weekends in the surrounding areas so when you want to open your windows at night to cool down you cant then sleep!

Wonderful stay at Little Robin Gate! David is such a friendly and welcoming host and has plenty of information about things to do in Bournemouth and the best spots to visit. The rooms are clean, tidy, and comfortable, with plenty of towels, extra blankets and a good-sized TV that even has the option to use your Netflix account. The property is in a great Location and only a 15-minute walk into town and 30-minute walk from the University. It is also very close to the train station and supermarkets (Lidl and ASDA). I cannot recommend Little Robin Gate enough and will definitely be returning. Thanks David (and Pumpkin).

A really lovely stay in a top end property. As advertised very tranquil and great to recharge batteries. They provide a personal 40 page things to do booklet so we did not have to plan anything ourselves. Its broken down into walkable, wet weather etc etc. We arrived by public transport with a dog so fab that the guide had sections specifically on what you can do via public transport (lots!) and what was dog friendly (so much!)

Definitely a great choice if using public transport as an easy (even with bags) 10 minute walk from the train station. Super dog friendly as the owner also has a dog

Such a relaxing stay. Lovely to wake up in the morning to only hear bird song and no traffic noise. Loads of lovely/thoughtful touches in the room. The spa bath was an incredible feature especially considering the price we paid. It made for such a memorable occasion for my birthday vs staying in a standard hotel room. The room was massive. Amazon prime video included. Complementary tea & coffee and free parking Looking forward to returning!!

What a smashing place, a short walk to the centre of Bournemouth, parking, a lovely host and really nice room. A special mention to David and of course pumpkin who made us feel very welcome and could not have been more hospitable. The place is spotless and you can tell the hard work that it takes to keep it to such standards.

The Spa Room is stunning. The double Jacuzzi bath is amazing and such a great and unique feature. We used it when we had a few hours to kill and on a rainy day. So so worth the money. Amazon prime video also included so nice to chill out and watch a movie.
